He forgot his wallet….really?

Oh, where do I start? My last long term relationship was over ten years ago. I have been dating ever since. Going from two back-to-back, long term relationships, to not being able to find someone compatible enough to stay with longer than seven months is a little discouraging – to say the least. I consider myself to be a well rounded individual. Fun, healthy, respectful, independent, and with pretty good self esteem. I guess in the beginning, my self esteem must have not been in check. I attracted THE WORST types of guys: Liars, addicts, no stability, cheap.

I don’t know what the hell that was about!

I once had a guy ask me out on a really nice dinner date, and to make a long story short, he “forgot” his wallet and stiffed me for the $130 bill. Had I known this was ever a possibility, I would have left all money and credit cards at home. It was so awkward and I felt so embarrassed for him, I just took out my credit card and said ‘don’t worry about it’.He was very apologetic and swore the money was at home and he would give it to me right away.

I never saw it.

After this, there were a string of men whom you could tell did not want to take care of the bill, even on a first date, and they had asked me on the date? This is what I would like to call a crisis in today’s society.

It brings more sadness to me than just “what a cheap bastard”, and just to be clear – it’s not about the money. It’s about the principal. What happened to chivalry? What happened to the role that a man used to play in the world of dating and courting? I realize times have changed and the roles of men and women have changed, but THIS? Really? It’s a disgrace.  And I blame the parents.

I find that even nice guys, who seem to be respectful, and not jerk-off’s, still don’t seem to know what to do, and they get all waffly when it comes to asking a girl out and TAKING HER OUT!

THIS MEANS:

  • If you asked her – YOU PAY
  • And not just a portion of the date – THE WHOLE DATE
  • If you are together for 2 hours or 6 hours – the entire time is your responsibility
  • NEVER ask her for ANY MONEY during ANY OF THIS TIME

Another tip:

OPEN THE GODDAMN DOOR!! ANY DOORS YOU ARE WALKING THROUGH AT ANY POINT OF THE EVENING. GET INFRONT AND OPEN THAT FRIGGIN DOOR FOR HER. A LOT OF MEN DON’T DO THIS.

Such a simple gesture – that is so meaningful and makes a woman feel amazing – Has gone to pot!

I can remember when my Father was sick with cancer and Alzheimer’s and we would walk to the store, he still insisted on walking on the outside of the path (beside the road)and he would say the man always walks on the outside (to protect the woman.)
